Foundation Celebrates Department's 40th Anniversary with Commemorative Calendar

The origins of today’s Simi Valley Police Department began in 1971, just two years after the city incorporated in 1969.  The first department was called the Community Safety Agency and officers wore green blazers, which covered their firearms in an effort to appear more friendly than militaristic.

From its modest beginning, the Simi Valley Police Department has grown into a full-service law enforcement agency serving more than 126,000 residents in one of the safest cities in the Nation.

The calendar is titled, “The Simi Valley Police Department 1971-2011, A Proud History- A Promising Future.”

With a rubber-coated wire binding, printed on premium heavyweight paper and individually shrink wrapped, the calendar is an attractive and memorable piece that is a good value.

"All calendar sales benefit the Simi Valley Police Foundation which provides financial and other assistance in support of the Simi Valley Police Department for unfunded programs, services, and technology to promote public safety and encourage citizen participation," said Foundation President Alan Barkwill.
